i'm not happy with what we wrote here but i don't want to delete it or modify yet.
homestuck... hm. yeah, this has taken over our life, some moments more than others, and, like always, we never have been that active in the fandom, but it's actually the fandom we've been the most active on lol
we found about homestuck through mogai instagram, it was a weird period of our life. but it was 2020 and we saw this person (whom we had a parasocial relationship with oops) sometimes mention homestuck, and we went "what is that?" and googled it. and that's how we found homestuck. we read the first 4 acts slowly across 2020. but then in mid 2021, we picked it up again and read over 6000 pages in less than a year. we became obsessed. then we created our ao3 account.
and that's how we got in the fandom. it was weird.. and then we got into the phase of "I hate the source material because it's problematic but i love mspfas and fanfics" and yeah, we literally logged in almost every day to read mspfas. we genuinely thought we hated homestuck. then we got more into the analysis part of the fandom and went like, "nah, i do like this shit".
and our syscovery was short after we finished HS^2, yes, before it was Beyond Canon, very traumatizing read, the epilogues I mean. but our system discovery and figuring out about a lot about identity, a lot about our enviroment, ruining our - at the time - current relationships, starting new toxic ones. it was wild, but homestuck has a stableing thing, kinda, the fandom, the huge amount of fictives we had at the time (now there's more, we have like 5 Karkats), we like homestuck...
we have a lot to thank homestuck for. but we haven't read anything (asides from HS;BC, which we dropped a few months ago because we stopped liking it, might pick it up eventually) since late 2021. so that is making engaging with the fandom, and most importantly for us, writing fanfics way harder. we read homestuck on firefox mobile, but now we use arch btw so we can use The Unofficial Homestuck Collection. I'm using the original, pre forked, flatpak, because we still don't know how to install tarballs. (·_·*) sidenote: this was written before the controversy happened.
so we are going to be rereading homestuck, and actually complete it, because we had many false starts last year. here there will be a 1. story analysis, 2. character analysis (based on favorites, not everyone will be analysed equally), 3. things we like about homestuck, and problem sleuth because we are reading that first, maybe some general plot analysis.
for fanfics, our ao3 username and this website's current url are the same. most fics are smut, and about mental health issues. also most of the older ones aren't good and are badly written, we were very inexperienced at the time, I think we are a better writter now. also most are unfinished, possibly permanently.
